Production
Every shot of Old Mate is storyboarded and edited into a pre-visualised cut. The soundtrack is completed, sound design recorded, and the theme song has been licensed in perpetuity. Old Mate was strategically written to reduce logistical complexity without compromising quality. 1 set contains 7 locations and over half the scenes.

Nigel the Nihilist
John is a tour de force, bringing both menace and sensitivity to Old Mate. He’s been in Marvel’s Shang-Chi, NCIS: Sydney, Last King of the Cross, Felony, Cleverman, and Love You Like That, but is best known as the much loved Big Terry character in the cult classic Canadian Club commercials.

A electric, versatile, and wickedly intelligent actress, Ava delivers a landmark performance as theOld Mate’s wildly deviant femme fatale, Camilla-Rose. Her dangerous charisma and unpredictability isn’t contained by the edges of the screen. Ava has carved her career with roles in Black Snow and Love in Bloom.

The definition of a triple threat, Kat is a creer dancer and actress with a voice to tame lions. Her wit is only exceeded by her wisdom. On screen she is known for her characters in Amazing Grace and Here Come the Habibs! while on stage she’s known for the Hairspray, Bring It On, and Jersey Boys musicals.

An award-winning VFX artist, director, editor, and author, Mitch’s work can be seen regularly on streamers, broadcast, and in ad breaks. He’s known for Mythbusters, AC/DC’s music video Realize, and art installations that have premiered at TEDx and Paris Fashion Week.
He’s founded 3 film production companies, had 2 books published with 2 more on the way, guest lectures at the NIDA, AFTRS, and Billy Blue, and has created work for the PM’s office, the AFP, and Human Rights Commission.
Armi Marquez
Finance Producer
A whole army in one Armi, he leaves a trail of cultural reform in his wake. As well as curating film festivals, he was a judge and programmer for Stiges and Shanghai International festivals. He knows the movie industry inside and out.
As well as the films he has produced, including The Flood, his work with marginalized communities continues to have a profound societal impact.
Jordan Allison
Cinematographer
The Head of Cinematic at SunStudios and a career lighting tech/grip for Australia’s elite filmmakers, Jordan brings a world class skill set, film gear, and network to Old Mate’s production: a significant asset.
He wields light and perspective with wit and eloquence, bearing witness to the meaningful absurdity in the every day.
Mason Vellios
Composer
What Mitch is to the eyes, Mason is the ears of Old Mate. He has been a composer, music producer, and multi-instrumentalist for over a decade. When he’s not winning awards, he’s playing to sellout crowds.
He’s had firework shows choreographed to his music, and even opened for the Wildcats as a Blues Brother. He’s been composing and performing music for Old Mate since 2017.
